Smith's Bible Dictionary

Smith's Bible Dictionary is a 19th century Bible dictionary named after its editor, William Smith (1813-1893), a noted English theologian and scholar. The first edition of Smith's Bible Dictionary was published as a three volume set in England in 1863. The version found here is based on 1884 edition, an expanded four volume version which was published in the United States.

Smith's Bible Dictionary is a trustworthy classic of Bible scholarship and an essential reference book for studying the Scripture's subjects. With more than 4500 headwords with information about important Bible characters and locations, and background articles on biblical life, it remains one of the most popular Bible dictionaries in the world.

The Smith's Bible Dictionary has entered into the public domain.
